CHRISTUS Health invites community for annual ‘Diabetes Walk and Talk’
9/08/2026
CHRISTUS Health is inviting the East Texas community to lace up their walking shoes and take steps toward better health during the second annual Diabetes Walk and Talk on Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Boulders at Lake Tyler in Whitehouse.
The event combines physical activity, diabetes education and community support for individuals and families affected by diabetes. Organized by CHRISTUS diabetes educators, the event was created by educators who live with Type 1 diabetes and are passionate about helping others navigate the challenges of the disease.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural walk, organizers hope participants once again experience the sense of community, while gaining valuable education to better manage their health.
"Diabetes education changes lives because it equips people with the knowledge to make informed decisions every day," said Regan Hawkins, CHRISTUS Health diabetes educator. "Whether someone has just been diagnosed or has lived with diabetes for years, there is always something new to learn. We hope everyone who attends leaves feeling encouraged, connected and better prepared to manage their health. That's what this event is all about."
Proceeds from the event benefit the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation to help provide access to diabetes education for patients regardless of their insurance status. Participants can also visit a vendor fair featuring the latest diabetes technology, medications, physical therapy and home health resources.
The Diabetes Walk and Talk will be held at The Boulders at Lake Tyler, 16822 McElroy Road in Whitehouse, beginning at 9 a.m. on Sept. 26. Registration is encouraged, but walkup registration will be accepted.
