CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Study
This year 1 million Americans will die of heart disease—one every 33 seconds. One of every 2.4 deaths is caused by cardiovascular disease, which kills as many Americans as all other causes of death combined.
Since 1992, the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Study has been working to improve the odds for South Texans with a worksite-based cardiovascular screening and education program that makes risk reduction easier.
Our team of professional nurses, dietitians, medical technologists and certified fitness experts takes participants through a simple health screening for the five key risk factors of cardiovascular disease:
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Obesity
- Smoking
Each screening provides participants with a summary of their risk factors, and most important, how to improve them.
