Linear Accelerator
A state-of-the-art linear accelerator is available at the Cancer Center and is most commonly used for external beam radiation treatments for patients with cancer. It helps deliver a high dose of radiation to the tumor while keeping the dose low for healthy organs. These x-rays can destroy the cancer cells while sparing the surrounding normal tissue. The linear accelerator can also be used in stereotactic radiosurgery a procedure used on larger tumors.
